Victorious Victorian under-19 captain Matt Berriman and
former England junior all-rounder Andy Bourke will become
MUCCers this season.
Right-handed batsman Berriman, who hails from Wodonga,
was captain of the Victorian squad that took the national
under-19 title in 2002/03.
Berriman (pictured) also top-scored with 82 in a victorious
one-off under-17 Test match against England in 2001.
The 20-year-old, who is awaiting a clearance from Prahran,
has come through a recent shoulder reconstruction and
is a graduate cricket coach at the VIS.
Bourke, who captains Castleford in the Yorkshire Premier
League, broke the competition's scoring record last season
with 1421 runs.
The 27-year-old will be among some familiar faces at University,
with Brendan Joseland, Dan Lowery, Ash Robertson and Huw
Birrell all having played alongside him at Castleford.
Bourke has had an eventful 2004 with him having to commute
to games from his Hemel Hempstead office, which is a 550-kilometre
round-trip, and with the club's Savile Park pavilion being
burned down by vandals in March.
