Fresh from a thrilling tie against Melbourne for the
inaugural Sholly Cup, the 1s bowled out Hawthorn-Monash
for 70 to set up a comfortable victory for the Ray Steele
Trophy. Returning from injury, State quickie Brett Harrop
took 5/16 and former coach Dan Lowery (pictured) claimed 4/16 before
captain Brendan Joseland made 84.
Three of Uni's other four sides also had wins with opener
Andrew Martel making his second unbeaten century of the
season, off-spinner Sam Desai taking 6/57, Brendan Goonan
4/43, triple Premiership player Matt Schofield
making 92 and Reid Merriman 63.
