Three of the club's top quick bowlers
kept a 128-year-old University tradition alive today
by bowling to the Australian squad in the build-up to
the MCG Test.
Nick Williams, Hugh Van Cuylenburg and Adam Trevitt
gave the world's number one team a healthy workout at
the MCG nets with some lively bowling.
Van Cuylenburg struck his favourite player, Brett Lee,
a painful blow on his top hand two days out from the
Boxing Day Test and begged forgiveness.
Trevitt, who through a Scottish grandparent is hopeful
of a call up to the Scotland squad for the next World
Cup, consistently pushed Stuart MacGill on to the back
foot.
But Test debutante Phil Jaques (pictured) looked every
inch a Test cricketer as he handled our trio with some
degree of comfort.
One of the most pleasing aspects of our boys' performances
at the MCG was that they didn't bowl any no-balls in
the nets. Will that become a new tradition at the Uni
Main nets on Tuesdays and Thursdays?
